Society has become much smaller and harder to hide in. Attempts by the True Fae to recover lost changelings have increased. Vampires rise to dominance in cities and claim dominance over freeholds within. Given all these, the power of the courts has waned. The lesser courts in a region no longer can exert significant influence. In America, while the Directional and Diurnal courts have still have freeholds, only the Seasonal Court has the influence to act on a large scale, and only they are mentioned here.
- The Summer Court is the court of wrath. They want to respond to increased attacks by the fae by increasing their own strength and fighting back, whatever it takes. Their population centers have largely disappeared from all the areas the players know of, though individual courtiers still pass through other settlements. Rumors they’ve created a fortress and are rearming circulate within the supernatural community, but none of the players have met a diviner that knows for sure. Yet.
- The Spring Court is the court of desire. They are the most actively helpful to the remaining humans and tend to form freeholds in larger settlements. These settlements are mostly in Were territories, as they can assist against largely unorganized packs of weres easier than they could defeat vampire-backed armies.
- The Autumn Court is the court of fear. Their court is focused on magic and the unknown and has shown the most interest in unraveling the mysteries associated with the collapse. They’ve established fortified freeholds in several places, often manipulating military remnants as protectors. They like being near human populations as a source of fear, but are rarely embedded in the communities.
- The Winter Court is the court of sorrow. They are generally disposed to hide and avoid conflict, which is problematic in a violent world. The Winter Court often maintains a presence in Spring and Autumn freeholds and has developed a close relationship with Autumn as the Winter Court would very much like to understand the mass disappearance well enough to reverse it and have more people to hide among. Of all the courts they are the most likely to have made accommodations to maintain freeholds within Fang cities, dealing with one devil to avoid another.
